St Mary’s is a National Demonstrator Church for achieving Net Zero Carbon

We received funding of £21,286 in 2024 from The Archbishop’s Council towards the installation of new all-electric heating. This consists of four Herschel overhead radiant heaters in the Celtic Chapel and the Narthex and four innovative infrared heaters, created by the company for churches and other public buildings. They are named Halos and resemble chandeliers, when supplied with integral candle-style lighting.

We also benefitted from a grant of £15,241 towards this project from The Benefact Trust, having already raised over £40,000 ourselves from gifts and local fundraising. We wish to thank warmly both these major funders and all other donors to this project.
