St Mary’s

St. Mary The Virgin Church, Penzance

St. Mary’s Church
Chapel Street
TR18 4AP

A church has stood on this headland since the 12th Century, but the present building dates from 1835.  Our  tower  acts as a Waymark to the sea faring community.  St Mary’s was re-ordered thirty years ago after a huge fire.  Come and see the spectacular East Window that was commissioned at the time.

Traditional church music is very important here, with our own Choir who practice weekly.  The pipe organ comes from the University Church in Oxford, also called St. Mary’s Church, and there is also a modern insrument to complement it, which digitally samples other renowned organs.

The church is in constant use by musicians, artists, and schools. We play host to a wide range of musical events throughout the year.

This church is heaven of stillness and prayer for local people and visitors.

You are welcome to join us for worship
