The Greatest Commandment
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.  One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:  “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Whose Son Is the Messiah?
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,  “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”  No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.

OCTOBER HALF TERM HOLIDAY CLUB 

Holiday Club is on for 4 days this coming week. We are once again based at Madron C of E School and have an exciting seasonal  programme for the children. Thank you for all donation so far. If anyone is able to donate any of the following please bring anything to St Mary’s Church.

SACRED WALKING

Eight of us had a wonderful walk in glorious sunshine last Saturday morning on the moors above St Just.  We were lead by Rev Annie HenryHolland with yours truly bringing up the rear. Some of the walk was in silence giving the opportunity to wonder at God’s Creation all around us. We stopped several times for poems and segments of the Eucharistic Liturgy, with the Eucharist being held just outside Tregeseal Stone Circle. We ended having our packed lunches at Annie’s home, washed down with coffee and other drinks. We shall be arranging more of these. PENLEE SOCIALS

This is a social group for people who live alone. We arrange film visits mostly, sometimes other cultural events. If we go to an early evening film, we often have drinks and snacks in the Savoy bar afterwards to discuss the film. Members range in age from 50 to 80. We have been meeting for some years, originally comprising St John’s folk.
