Painting of Luke the Evangelist @ Église Saint-Séverin de Paris
Festival of Luke the Evangelist
Bible readings: Isaiah 35 3-6; Psalm 147 1-7; 2 Timothy 4 5-17
Gospel Reading [RSV] Luke 10 1-9
After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the labourer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you; heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

Launch of St John’s Clothes Rack.
Wow! What a blessed and joyful afternoon we had at the Launch of the St Johns’ Clothes Rack in the Community Room at St John’s Church. It was wonderful to be using this space for this event.

We were joined by Penzance Mayor Andy Law who cut the ribbon to officially open the Clothes Rack, and Penzance East Clr Jonathon How who cut the Clothes Rack cake and Hannah from BBC Radio Cornwall who chatted to us all.. Listen out for this on Radio Cornwall soon! We also linked the event to Cornwall Independent Poverty Forum’s Challenge Poverty week from 12th -19th October.

A steady stream of people came during the afternoon and there was space to talk and get to know people.
My thanks to everyone that contributed towards making this successful; designing the logo, donating clothes, helping on the day, and spreading the word on social media. Such unlimited generosity!
We are working with Churches Together to further promote the Clothes Rack and the next Clothes Rack is on Wednesday 11th November. As we approach a difficult time of year for many families, please donate any Christmas jumpers (children and adults) and any toys in good condition.
Once again thank you to everyone for enabling us to ‘reach out together’..
Hilary
