Bible readings: Rev. 7:9-end – Gospel Reading [NRSVA] Matthew 5.1–12
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
‘Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
‘Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
‘Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
‘Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
‘Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

If we go to an early evening film, we often have drinks and snacks in the Savoy bar afterwards to discuss the film. Members range in age from 50 to 80. We have been meeting for some years, originally comprising St John’s folk. We would be happy to welcome new members. If you would like to join contact Keno at admin@penleecluster.org.uk and he will forward your message to me.

Autumn half term Holiday Club
Thank you to everyone who has given so generously to Holiday Club through donations of money, food and time from volunteers. We could not do this vital work supporting children from our church schools without you.
As I write the children are completing day 3 of the 4 days. They have visited Helston Museum, Ferdi’s soft play, St Ives and today are preparing for a Light party with a trip to Flikka donkey sanctuary tomorrow. Our Holiday Club is underpinned by Christian Values of Generosity, Courage, Friendship and Caring for Creation in action.
Jenny, our Family Worker, has led daily reflection with the children and even fitted this in at the waiting room of Penzance station before going on the train to St Ives!
Look out for a display of these and photos from Holiday Club in St Mary’s soon and a full report on Holiday Club next week. Hilary Tyreman
